Reversed Chronicles, published by A Shade Colder, highlights writing born in close proximity to art and created by artists from the Eastern part of Europe. The collection is brought together around the idea of a chronicle. It provides a queer perspective on subjective time, while also raising the question of reliability.
The three texts featured in the collection – by artists Vaim Sarv and Mia Tamme, Vlad(a), and Agnė Jokšė – have grown out of the artistic practices of their authors and emerge from the backdrop of the recent larger cultural and political shifts in the region that for a long time has been known as Eastern Europe. They offer alternative perspectives on the region’s history, addressing themes like decolonisation, collective social practices, queer time, community, and embodied temporality.
In addition to the three texts the publication includes a special edition of Little Switch, an artwork by Sarah Nõmm, addressing the question of the harshness and gentleness of traditions through craft and material.
